Today in physics we worked on a problem set regarding the weather balloon. The problem set is on Google Classroom. The steps on how to do this will come soon. I will post a tutorial with board photos. The physics blog post is due Monday, it is encouraged to to email blog posts to Brain to be graded before December.

Hi all!
Today in physics we learned how to calculate the upward force applied on a weather balloon. Photos of the board will come soon. We also discussed weight, pressure, density, and buoyancy. There is a problem set due in the blog post. To be prepared for grading in December, it is highly recommended to send Brian your blog posts to be graded and critiqued. Freshman need to have four graded, sophomores need six. There will be an additional honors post as well. This is the same for Mike's class. Check quantumquasars for the new blog post. It is up and due Monday. How do you cook food on a tiny beach? With microwaves! You can email me, [email protected] Or ask a question in the comments if you have any. Today in physics we learned about light and color. Reid and Isabelle showed a very cool demonstration regarding different colored flames. Each chemical produced a different color flame when burned, based on the energy level given off by the excited electrons. Then, after discussing this, we had project work time. Be sure to check the project handouts for due dates. I do not know the different due dates for each capstone. If you have any questions feel free to put them in the comments!
Today in physics we had capstone group work time, but we also learned about The Big Bang Theory and the different aspects of the universe. We discussed how old the universe is and how it stretched from dark energy, to light, and then stars and planets were formed. We learned about how far our solar system is spaced out, and watched this video. Then we examined this image. Physics blog post is due Monday.
Today in physics we each met about our capstones. Each group will have their own physics work, but the blog post and what it entails still remains the same. Last week's post is due today and this week's post is due next Monday. Looking forward to going on some trips!
Today in physics we read a piece about light. The piece was fascinating, we discussed striking things in the piece. We discussed how light behaves like a wave, and a particle, and which moves faster, time or light? Here is the writing piece. For the physics blog post, due Monday, it is required to reflect on this article. For more information on the blog post, check quantumquasars.com.
Today in physics we watched videos of historic rocket launches and mistakes, then reflected on the rocket projects. We discussed fins, motors, and more. The physics blog post instructions are up on quantumquasars.com for this week. The physics blog is due Monday. We also are beginning to work on our capstone projects. If you have any ideas, talk to Mike or Brian.
Today in physics we chose our final projects. The options were, weather balloons, rocketry, nature, film making, and astronomy. The projects are flexible. Many projects include field trips, like camping, firing rockets, building an observatory, and more! If you have another idea, you can pitch it to Brian. If you wish to do honors, you can choose two projects. Be sure to get the honors request slip signed by a parent.
Today in physics we had work time for our rockets and films. The 2-minute rocket films are due Friday. The physics blog post is also due Monday. We will have time in class to work on the films. The requirements for your physics blog post are on quantumquasars.com! Good luck to all the groups launching tomorrow and Friday. Congrats to the groups who already launched.
In physics we have been preparing our rockets for launch. We have now scheduled launch dates! To prepare for your launch, make sure you have your nose cone, ejection charge, wings, etc. Also, be sure to take photos along the way. You physics blogs are always due Monday, be sure to work on those as well. Brian will have the prompt up tomorrow.
